The Institute’s Founding Principals have more than 50 years of clinical, teaching, research, program development and program management experience in the areas of work-site based rehabilitation and treatment of persons with severe mental health and/or addiction disorders.
Robert Gervey, Psy.D.
After more than 20 years in academia, Dr. Gervey has co-founded the Institute for Workforce Solutions to bring attention and resources to challenges faced by the business community in adapting to a workforce that is increasing populated by individuals with significant disabilities and/or work-related limitations.
Dr. Gervey has served on the teaching and/or clinical faculties of the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Behavioral Health at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey, the Department of Rehabilitation Counseling and Special Education at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, the Department of Psychiatry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY, and the Department of Psychiatry at Cambridge Hospital – Harvard University.
Dr. Gervey has received numerous awards and recognition for his excellence in teaching and research.
Dr. Cindy Ashkins, a 1980 graduate from Tulane University’s School of Social Work has been LABSWE licensed since 1985. She has been in private practice since 1990 specializing in Addiction, Trauma and Relationship therapy. She obtained her Ph.D. from Tulane University’s School of Social Work in 1994.
Dr. Ashkins is a certified Imago Workshop Trainer and Therapist and is certified to administer Imago workshops for Couples in Addiction Recovery.
Before establishing herself as a ‘clinician’s clinician’, Dr. Ashkins developed and managed clinical programs in the Greater New Orleans area serving families and children.
